The Redpoint Descender Auto Belay Device

The Redpoint Descender Auto Belay (manufactured by MSA/Rose a leading fall protection company) is a controlled descent device designed specifically for the challenge ropes course, climbing gym and and home climbing walls. There is no other piece of climbing equipment like it. These Auto Belays can be installed overhead for use in:

• Indoor climbing gyms
• Residential climbing walls
• Portable climbing walls
• Indoor challenge courses
• Outdoor challenge ropes courses
• Climbing towers

The Redpoint Descender provides a true hands free belay solution for climbers and climbing facilities - no belayer is needed! The use of an autobelay device eliminates the need for an additional climber, tons of climbing gear and/or an attendant to serve as belayer.

The auto belay units should be installed above a climbing wall where a top-rope climbing system would typically be used. However, unlike a top-rope system, the climber cannot hang suspended by the Redpoint Descender (taking a break while being held up by their belayer) once he or she has let go of the wall - they will instead slowly ride back down to the ground.

The climber using the auto belay system will  be lowered to the ground at a continuous and controlled rate of descent. The Redpoint Descender is NOT designed for lead climbing. The webbing line automatically retracts into the belay unit, permitting repeated climbs and descents. The Redpoint Descender Auto Belay comes fully equipped with a field replaceable webbing line. The webbing line may be replaced in the field by the end user, simply contact us to order a replacement webbing kit - takes about ten minutes to complete the replacement.
